Then the evil ˹consequences˺ of their deeds overtook them, and they were overwhelmed by what they used to ridicule.

فلهذا أصابتهم عقوبة الله على ذلك ، ( وحاق بهم ) أي : أحاط بهم من العذاب الأليم ( ما كانوا به يستهزئون ) أي : يسخرون من الرسل إذا توعدوهم بعقاب الله ; فلهذا يقال يوم القيامة : ( هذه النار التي كنتم بها تكذبون )[ الطور : 14 ] .
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
