They argued, “We did not break our promise to you of our own free will, but we were made to carry the burden of the people’s ˹golden˺ jewellery,1 then we threw it ˹into the fire˺, and so did the Sâmiri.”

Wakasema, «Ewe Mūsā, sisi hatukwenda kinyume na agizo lako la kutuchagua, lakini sisi tulibebeshwa mizigo mizito ya pambo la watu wa Fir'awn, tukaitupa kwenye shimo lenye moto kwa amri ya Sāmirīy, na pia Sāmirīy alitupa mchanga aliokuwa nao wa kwato za farasi wa Jibrili, amani imshukiye.»
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
