except messengers of His choice. Then He appoints angel-guards before and behind them

إلا من ارتضى من رسول ) وهذا يعم الرسول الملكي والبشري .
ثم قال : ( فإنه يسلك من بين يديه ومن خلفه رصدا ) أي : يختصه بمزيد معقبات من الملائكة يحفظونه من أمر الله ، ويساوقونه على ما معه من وحي الله ; ولهذا قال :
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
