Imām Ibn al-Jawzī (d. 597/1201) summarized the scholars' opinions in his book "Zād al-Masīr" as follows:

1. It refers to a righteous wife. [ʿAlī]
2. It refers to worship. [Narrated by Sufyān ibn Ḥusayn from al-Ḥasan]
3. It refers to knowledge and worship. [Narrated by Hishām from al-Ḥasan]
4. It refers to wealth. [Abū Waʾil, al-Suddī, Ibn Zayd]
5. It refers to well-being (health). [Qatādah]
6. It refers to ample provision. [Muqātil]
7. It refers to blessings. [Ibn Qutaybah]
