Tafsir: An-Nahl 16:103

ولقد نعلم انهم يقولون انما يعلمه بشر لسان الذي يلحدون اليه اعجمي وهاذا لسان عربي مبين ١٠٣

وَلَقَدْ نَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ إِنَّمَا يُعَلِّمُهُۥ بَشَرٌۭ ۗ لِّسَانُ ٱلَّذِى يُلْحِدُونَ إِلَيْهِ أَعْجَمِىٌّۭ وَهَـٰذَا لِسَانٌ عَرَبِىٌّۭ مُّبِينٌ ١٠٣

وَلَقَدۡ

نَعۡلَمُ

أَنَّهُمۡ

يَقُولُونَ

إِنَّمَا

يُعَلِّمُهُۥ

بَشَرٞۗ

لِّسَانُ

ٱلَّذِي

يُلۡحِدُونَ

إِلَيۡهِ

أَعۡجَمِيّٞ

وَهَٰذَا

لِسَانٌ

عَرَبِيّٞ

مُّبِينٌ

١٠٣

And We surely know that they say, “No one is teaching him except a human.” But the man they refer to speaks a foreign tongue, whereas this ˹Quran˺ is ˹in˺ eloquent Arabic.¹

Sequence of Verses

In the previous verse (98), there was an instruction to say اَعُوذ بِاللہ 'a udhu bil-lah' (I seek protection with Allah) while reciting the Qur’ an which indicates that the Shaitan puts scruples in the heart when one recites the Qur'an. In the verses cited above, there is a refutation of such Satanic instigations.
