Al-Baqarah 2:247 وقال لهم نبيهم ان الله قد بعث لكم طالوت ملكا قالوا انى يكون له الملك علينا ونحن احق بالملك منه ولم يوت سعة من المال قال ان الله اصطفاه عليكم وزاده بسطة في العلم والجسم والله يوتي ملكه من يشاء والله واسع عليم ٢٤٧
وَقَالَ
لَهُمۡ
نَبِيُّهُمۡ
إِنَّ
ٱللَّهَ
قَدۡ
بَعَثَ
لَكُمۡ
طَالُوتَ
مَلِكٗاۚ
قَالُوٓاْ
أَنَّىٰ
يَكُونُ
لَهُ
ٱلۡمُلۡكُ
عَلَيۡنَا
وَنَحۡنُ
أَحَقُّ
بِٱلۡمُلۡكِ
مِنۡهُ
وَلَمۡ
يُؤۡتَ
سَعَةٗ
مِّنَ
ٱلۡمَالِۚ
قَالَ
إِنَّ
ٱللَّهَ
ٱصۡطَفَىٰهُ
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
وَزَادَهُۥ
بَسۡطَةٗ
فِي
ٱلۡعِلۡمِ
وَٱلۡجِسۡمِۖ
وَٱللَّهُ
يُؤۡتِي
مُلۡكَهُۥ
مَن
يَشَآءُۚ
وَٱللَّهُ
وَٰسِعٌ
عَلِيمٞ
٢٤٧
E disse il loro profeta: «Ecco che Allah vi ha dato per re Saul». Dissero: «Come potrà regnare su di noi? Noi abbiamo più diritto di lui a regnare, e a lui non sono state concesse ricchezze!». Disse: «In verità Allah lo ha scelto tra voi e lo ha dotato di scienza e di prestanza». Allah dà il regno a chi vuole, Egli è immenso, sapiente.

Ibn Kathir (Abridged)
When the Israelites asked their Prophet to appoint a king over them, he appointed Talut (Saul), who was then a soldier. But, Talut was not a descendant of the house of kings among them, which was exclusively in the offspring of Yahudha (Judah). This is why they said:
