Al-Mu'minun 23:80 وهو الذي يحيي ويميت وله اختلاف الليل والنهار افلا تعقلون ٨٠
وَهُوَ
ٱلَّذِي
يُحۡيِۦ
وَيُمِيتُ
وَلَهُ
ٱخۡتِلَٰفُ
ٱلَّيۡلِ
وَٱلنَّهَارِۚ
أَفَلَا
تَعۡقِلُونَ
٨٠
En Hij is het Die het leven geeft en de dood veroorzaakt, en aan Hem behoort de afwisseling van de nacht en de dag. Zullen jullie het dan niet begrijpen?

Ibn Kathir (Abridged)
وَلَقَدْ أَخَذْنَـهُمْ بِالْعَذَابِ
(And indeed We seized them with punishment,) means, `We tried and tested them with difficulties and calamities.' His saying:
فَمَا اسْتَكَانُواْ لِرَبِّهِمْ وَمَا يَتَضَرَّعُونَ
(but they humbled not themselves to their Lord, nor did they invoke with submission to Hi

(And indeed We seized them with punishment,) means, `We tried and tested them with difficulties and calamities.' Hi
