Tafseer: Al-Mujadila 58:9

يا ايها الذين امنوا اذا تناجيتم فلا تتناجوا بالاثم والعدوان ومعصيت الرسول وتناجوا بالبر والتقوى واتقوا الله الذي اليه تحشرون ٩

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا تَنَـٰجَيْتُمْ فَلَا تَتَنَـٰجَوْا۟ بِٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِ وَمَعْصِيَتِ ٱلرَّسُولِ وَتَنَـٰجَوْا۟ بِٱلْبِرِّ وَٱلتَّقْوَىٰ ۖ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِىٓ إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ ٩

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا

ٱلَّذِينَ

ءَامَنُوٓاْ

إِذَا

تَنَٰجَيۡتُمۡ

فَلَا

تَتَنَٰجَوۡاْ

بِٱلۡإِثۡمِ

وَٱلۡعُدۡوَٰنِ

وَمَعۡصِيَتِ

ٱلرَّسُولِ

وَتَنَٰجَوۡاْ

بِٱلۡبِرِّ

وَٱلتَّقۡوَىٰۖ

وَٱتَّقُواْ

ٱللَّهَ

ٱلَّذِيٓ

إِلَيۡهِ

تُحۡشَرُونَ

٩

O, jullie die geloven! Als jullie een geheime beraadslaging houden, doe het dan niet omwille van zonde, vijandigheid en opstand tegen de Boodschapper, maar beraadslaag over deugd en rechtvaardigheid en vrees Allah voor Wie jullie verzameld zullen worden.

As a rule, secret whispering is an undesirable action. However, sometimes for some good reason, secret whispering has to be resorted to. In this case, the decisive factor is intention. If it is done with good intentions, it is legitimate but if it is done with evil intentions, it is sinful.
