فليس له اليوم هاهنا حميم ٣٥

فَلَيْسَ لَهُ ٱلْيَوْمَ هَـٰهُنَا حَمِيمٌۭ ٣٥

So this Day they will have no close friend here,

ولا طعام الا من غسلين ٣٦

وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍۢ ٣٦

nor any food except ˹oozing˺ pus,

لا ياكله الا الخاطيون ٣٧

لَّا يَأْكُلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْخَـٰطِـُٔونَ ٣٧

which none will eat except the evildoers.”

فلا اقسم بما تبصرون ٣٨

فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُونَ ٣٨

Now, I do swear by whatever you see,

and whatever you cannot see!

Indeed, this ˹Quran˺ is the recitation of a noble Messenger.

وما هو بقول شاعر قليلا ما تومنون ٤١

وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِرٍۢ ۚ قَلِيلًۭا مَّا تُؤْمِنُونَ ٤١

ﭵ

ﭶ

ﭷ

ﭸ

It is not the prose of a poet ˹as you claim˺, ˹yet˺ you hardly have any faith.

ولا بقول كاهن قليلا ما تذكرون ٤٢

وَلَا بِقَوْلِ كَاهِنٍۢ ۚ قَلِيلًۭا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ ٤٢

ﭾ

ﭿ

ﮀ

Nor is it the mumbling of a fortune-teller, ˹yet˺ you are hardly mindful.

تَنزِيلٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ٤٣

˹It is˺ a revelation from the Lord of all worlds.

Had the Messenger made up something in Our Name,

We would have certainly seized him by his right hand,

ثم لقطعنا منه الوتين ٤٦

ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ ٱلْوَتِينَ ٤٦

then severed his aorta,

فما منكم من احد عنه حاجزين ٤٧

فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حَـٰجِزِينَ ٤٧

ﮛ

and none of you could have shielded him ˹from Us˺!

وانه لتذكرة للمتقين ٤٨

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَذْكِرَةٌۭ لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ ٤٨

Indeed, this ˹Quran˺ is a reminder to those mindful ˹of Allah˺.

وانا لنعلم ان منكم مكذبين ٤٩

وَإِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِينَ ٤٩

And We certainly know that some of you will persist in denial,

وانه لحسرة على الكافرين ٥٠

and it will surely be a source of regret for the disbelievers.

And indeed, this ˹Quran˺ is the absolute truth.

In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful

70:1

سال سايل بعذاب واقع ١

سَأَلَ سَآئِلٌۢ بِعَذَابٍۢ وَاقِعٍۢ ١

ﯕ

ﯖ

ﯗ

ﯘ

ﯙ

A challenger¹ has demanded a punishment bound to come

لِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَافِعٌۭ ٢

for the disbelievers—to be averted by none—

from Allah, Lord of pathways of ˹heavenly˺ ascent,

تعرج الملايكة والروح اليه في يوم كان مقداره خمسين الف سنة ٤

تَعْرُجُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِى يَوْمٍۢ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُۥ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍۢ ٤

ﯩ

ﯮ

ﯯ

˹through which˺ the angels and the ˹holy˺ spirit¹ will ascend to Him on a Day fifty thousand years in length.²

فاصبر صبرا جميلا ٥

فَٱصْبِرْ صَبْرًۭا جَمِيلًا ٥

So endure ˹this denial, O Prophet,˺ with beautiful patience.

انهم يرونه بعيدا ٦

إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُۥ بَعِيدًۭا ٦

They truly see this ˹Day˺ as impossible,

ونراه قريبا ٧

وَنَرَىٰهُ قَرِيبًۭا ٧

but We see it as inevitable.

يوم تكون السماء كالمهل ٨

يَوْمَ تَكُونُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ كَٱلْمُهْلِ ٨

On that Day the sky will be like molten brass

وتكون الجبال كالعهن ٩

وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ ٩

and the mountains like ˹tufts of˺ wool.

ولا يسال حميم حميما ١٠

وَلَا يَسْـَٔلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًۭا ١٠

And no close friend will ask ˹about˺ their friends,
