Tafsir: Al-Qasas 28:75

ونزعنا من كل امة شهيدا فقلنا هاتوا برهانكم فعلموا ان الحق لله وضل عنهم ما كانوا يفترون ٧٥

وَنَزَعْنَا مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍۢ شَهِيدًۭا فَقُلْنَا هَاتُوا۟ بُرْهَـٰنَكُمْ فَعَلِمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱلْحَقَّ لِلَّهِ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ ٧٥

وَنَزَعۡنَا

مِن

كُلِّ

أُمَّةٖ

شَهِيدٗا

فَقُلۡنَا

هَاتُواْ

بُرۡهَٰنَكُمۡ

فَعَلِمُوٓاْ

أَنَّ

ٱلۡحَقَّ

لِلَّهِ

وَضَلَّ

عَنۡهُم

مَّا

كَانُواْ

يَفۡتَرُونَ

٧٥

And We will bring forth a witness¹ from every faith-community and ask ˹the polytheists˺, “Show ˹Us˺ your proof.” Then they will ˹come to˺ know that the truth is with Allah ˹alone˺. And whatever ˹gods˺ they fabricated will fail them.

Commentary

A question that will be asked from the infidels on the Day of Judgment to repeat what they had replied to the prophets on their invitation to truth was mentioned in an earlier verse. Now in this verse it is stated that the prophets would testify about the reply that was given by the infidels.
