<p dir="ltr">This 8-lesson Learning Plan is an English-adapted summary of <em>Al-Iman bil Quran Al-Karim: Haqiqatuhu wa Lawazimuhu</em> (Faith in the Noble Qur’an: Its Reality and Its Implications) by Prof. Dr. Taha Abidin Taha Hamad. The original work examines the reality of faith in the Quran and the duties that necessarily flow from it.</p><p dir="ltr">Through these lessons, learners will reflect on the Quran as Allah’s speech, revealed through Jibril to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), preserved from alteration, true without falsehood, final in authority, miraculous in proof, universal in message, and explained by the Sunnah. <p dir="ltr"><em>Theme: True faith in the Quran must be known, believed, and lived.</em></p><h2 dir="ltr">Quran Verse</h2><blockquote dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">“And who believe in what has been revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ and what was revealed before you, and have sure faith in the Hereafter.” (Quran 2:4)</p></blockquote><h2 dir="ltr">Lesson &amp; Reflection</h2><p dir="ltr">Faith in the Quran is not a small matter. It belongs to one of the greatest pillars of iman: belief in the books Allah revealed. The believer believes in all the books Allah sent down to His prophets, but belief in the previous scriptures is general, while belief in the Quran must be detailed.</p><p dir="ltr">This is because the Quran is the final Book, the greatest of Allah’s revealed books, the one preserved for this Ummah, the one we worship Allah by reciting, and the one we are commanded to follow until the Day of Judgment.</p><p dir="ltr">Faith itself is not merely information in the mind. It is not enough to know that something is true while the heart remains unmoved and the limbs remain unchanged. Faith includes belief in the heart, speech of the tongue, and action of the limbs. It includes knowledge, trust, submission, love, and obedience. The Prophet (peace be upon him) mentioned belief in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day when explaining iman. [al-Bukhari 50]</p><p dir="ltr">So faith in the Quran means more than saying, “I believe it is from Allah.” It means believing that it is Allah’s speech, trusting its reports, submitting to its commands, accepting its rulings, honoring its words, loving its guidance, acting upon it, seeking healing through it, and defending its truth.</p><p dir="ltr">This is why the early generations gave priority to faith rather than merely increasing recitation. They learned Iman, then learned the Quran, so the Quran increased them in faith. It is reported from Jundub ibn ‘Abdillah (may Allah be pleased with him) that they learned faith before learning the Quran, then when they learned the Quran, it increased them in faith. [Ibn Majah 61]</p><p dir="ltr">This is a crucial order. A person may memorize many verses yet remain weak in reverence, love, and submission if the foundation of faith in the Quran is weak. The Quran is not only words to be repeated by the tongue. It is Allah’s speech, sent to guide hearts, reform lives, and bring servants to Him.</p><p dir="ltr">The question, then, is not only "How much Quran do I know?"</p><p dir="ltr">The deeper question is: How deeply do I believe in the Quran? How much do I honor it? How much do I love it? How much do I follow it? How much do I allow it to judge my thoughts, desires, habits, and choices?</p><p dir="ltr">True faith in the Quran transforms the relationship between the servant and the Book of Allah. The Quran becomes more than something familiar on the tongue. It becomes the light of the heart, the guide of life, and the covenant by which the servant walks to Allah.</p><h2 dir="ltr">Reflection Question</h2><p dir="ltr">Do I treat the Quran only as a Book I recite or as Allah’s speech that I must believe, honor, love, and follow?</p><h2 dir="ltr">Action Point</h2><p dir="ltr">Before reciting today, pause and say:</p><p dir="ltr"><strong>This is the speech of Allah. Belief in the Quran: Its Meaning, Truth, and Duties

Faith in the Quran Begins Before Recitation

<p dir="ltr"><em>Theme: The Quran came from Allah, through Jibril, to the heart of the Prophet (peace be upon him).</em></p><h2 dir="ltr">Quran Verse</h2><blockquote dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">“The Trustworthy Spirit brought it down upon your heart ˹O Prophet˺, so that you may be one of the warners, in a clear Arabic tongue.” (Quran 26:193–195)</p></blockquote><h2 dir="ltr">Lesson &amp; Reflection</h2><p dir="ltr">The first reality of faith in the Quran is to believe what the Quran is: it is the speech of Allah.</p><p dir="ltr">It is not the speech of an angel, not the speech of a prophet, not the speech of a poet, not the speech of a scholar, and not the speech of any created being. It is Allah’s speech, revealed by Him, sent down as guidance, mercy, light, and proof.</p><p dir="ltr">The Quran is the speech of Allah, revealed by Him in both its wording and meaning. Jibril (peace be upon him) did not create it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) did not compose it. Rather, Jibril (peace be upon him) carried it faithfully, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) received it, recited it, taught it, explained it, and conveyed it to the Ummah.</p><p dir="ltr">This chain is a chain of perfect trust.</p><p dir="ltr"><strong>Allah spoke it → Jibril (peace be upon him) brought it down faithfully → Muhammad (peace be upon him) received it upon his heart and conveyed it truthfully → The Ummah preserved it by recitation, memorization, writing, teaching, and action.</strong></p><p dir="ltr">This belief protects the heart from treating the Quran like ordinary speech. When we open the mushaf, we are not reading human reflections or inherited religious literature. We are reading the speech of the Lord of the worlds: the One who created us, owns us, provides for us, knows our secrets, and will return us to Him.</p><p dir="ltr">The Quran itself calls its words the words of Allah. Allah says: <strong>“so that he may hear the words of Allah.”</strong> (Quran 9:6) This gives the Quran its majesty and authority. Human speech may contain errors, weaknesses, contradictions, limitations, and ignorance. But Allah’s speech is truth, justice, wisdom, guidance, and mercy.</p><p dir="ltr">Believing that the Quran is Allah’s speech should create reverence. How can the heart be careless with Allah’s words? How can the tongue recite them without presence? How can the servant hear commands from Allah and remain unmoved? How can the Quran be treated as background sound, decoration, or mere habit?</p><p dir="ltr">This belief should also create certainty. The Quran is not an opinion among opinions. It is not a cultural text to be judged by changing desires. It is the final revelation from Allah. When the Quran speaks, truth has spoken. When it commands, the believer listens. When it warns, the believer becomes alert. When it promises, the believer hopes. When it comforts, the believer is strengthened.</p><p dir="ltr">Faith in the Quran, therefore, begins with reverent recognition: this Book is from Allah, carried by Jibril (peace be upon him), received by Muhammad (peace be upon him), and preserved for this Ummah by the mercy of Allah.</p><h2 dir="ltr">Reflection Question</h2><p dir="ltr">When I recite the Quran, does my heart remember that I am reciting the speech of Allah?</p><h2 dir="ltr">Action Point</h2><p dir="ltr">Before your next recitation, pause and say:</p><p dir="ltr"><strong>Allah revealed this Quran. Jibril (peace be upon him) brought it faithfully. The Prophet (peace be upon him) conveyed it truthfully.</strong></p><p dir="ltr">Then recite slowly, even if only a few verses.</p><h2 dir="ltr">Takeaway</h2><p dir="ltr">Faith in the Quran requires believing that it is truly the speech of Allah, sent down through Jibril (peace be upon him) to the heart of Muhammad (peace be upon him), and conveyed to the Ummah with complete trust.</p>

The Quran Is the Speech of Allah

<p dir="ltr"><em>Theme: The Quran is true, preserved, final, and overseeing.</em></p><h2 dir="ltr">Quran Verses</h2><blockquote dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">“The Word of your Lord has been perfected in truth and justice. None can change His Words. And He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.” (Quran 6:115)</p></blockquote><blockquote dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">“It is certainly We Who have revealed the Reminder, and it is certainly We Who will preserve it.” (Quran 15:9)</p></blockquote><h2 dir="ltr">Lesson &amp; Reflection</h2><p dir="ltr">Faith in the Quran requires believing that it is entirely true.</p><p dir="ltr">There is no falsehood in it. No lie in its reports. No injustice in its rulings. No contradiction in its guidance. No corruption in its meanings. No flaw in what it commands or forbids.</p><p dir="ltr">Allah’s word is perfected in truth and justice: truth in what it reports, and justice in what it commands. Whatever the Quran tells us about Allah, the angels, the messengers, previous nations, the unseen, the Hereafter, Paradise, Hellfire, reward, punishment, and the realities of life is true. Whatever it commands is just and beneficial. Whatever it forbids is harmful, corrupting, or opposed to what Allah loves.</p><p dir="ltr">Faith in the Quran also requires believing that Allah preserved it. The Quran was not left to human protection alone. Allah Himself guaranteed its preservation. Nothing has been added to it. Nothing has been lost from it. Nothing has been changed in it. The Quran we recite is the Quran revealed to the Prophet (peace be upon him).</p><p dir="ltr">This preservation is one of Allah’s greatest favors upon this Ummah. The Quran has been preserved in hearts and pages, in recitation and writing, across lands, languages, and generations. Even small errors are corrected by those who know it. This is from Allah’s protection of His final Book.</p><p dir="ltr">Faith in the Quran also means believing that it is the final and overseeing Book. It confirms the truth that came before it in earlier revelations, and it stands as the authority over previous scriptures. Whatever agrees with the Quran from earlier revelation is affirmed, and whatever contradicts it is rejected. The Quran is not judged by earlier scriptures; rather, claims related to earlier scriptures are judged by the Quran.</p><p dir="ltr">This is because the Quran is the final Book, just as Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the final Messenger. No revealed book after it will replace it. No later scripture will supersede it. No human system may be placed above it as the final authority.</p><p dir="ltr">This belief has practical consequences. The believer does not measure the Quran by changing desires, social pressures, cultural habits, or intellectual trends. The believer begins with certainty: Allah’s speech is true, Allah’s judgment is just, Allah’s Book is preserved, and Allah’s guidance is final.</p><p dir="ltr">If something in the Quran is difficult for the soul, the believer asks for knowledge, patience, and submission. Difficulty in understanding is not the same as doubt in truth. The believer trusts Allah more than they trust themselves.</p><p dir="ltr">The Quran is therefore the standard by which beliefs are corrected, values are weighed, actions are judged, and truth is distinguished from falsehood.</p><h2 dir="ltr">Reflection Question</h2><p dir="ltr">Do I accept the Quran as the standard of truth, or only when it agrees with what I already think?</p><h2 dir="ltr">Action Point</h2><p dir="ltr">When you read an ayah today, say:</p><p dir="ltr"><strong>Allah’s word is truth and justice. I trust what Allah has revealed.</strong></p><p dir="ltr">If you meet something you do not fully understand, ask Allah for knowledge, humility, and certainty.</p><h2 dir="ltr">Takeaway</h2><p dir="ltr">Faith in the Quran includes believing that it is truth without falsehood, preserved from alteration, and the final authority over all guidance until the Day of Judgment.</p>

Truth, Preservation, and Final Authority

<p dir="ltr"><em>Theme: The whole Quran is Allah’s proof and must be accepted completely.</em></p><h2 dir="ltr">Quran Verses</h2><blockquote dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">“Say, ‘If all humans and jinn were to come together to produce the equivalent of this Quran, they could not produce its equal, no matter how they supported one another.’” (Quran 17:88)</p></blockquote><blockquote dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">“Do you believe in part of the Scripture and reject the rest?” (Quran 2:85)</p></blockquote><h2 dir="ltr">Lesson &amp; Reflection</h2><p dir="ltr">Faith in the Quran requires believing that it is the greatest miracle of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).</p><p dir="ltr">The Quran is guidance, but it is also proof. It guides the heart to Allah and proves the truthfulness of the Messenger (peace be upon him) who brought it. Other prophets were given signs suited to their people and time, but the Quran remains a living miracle until the end of time.</p><p dir="ltr">Its miracle is not limited to one generation. It is recited, preserved, studied, reflected upon, memorized, and lived by across centuries. Every age encounters its truth, beauty, power, depth, and challenge.</p><p dir="ltr">Allah challenged mankind and jinn to produce the like of the Quran. They could not. He challenged them to bring ten surahs like it. They could not. He challenged them to bring even one surah like it. They could not. This challenge remains, and the inability of creation to meet it also remains.</p><p dir="ltr">The miracle of the Quran appears in many ways: its wording, meanings, guidance, truthfulness, preservation, effect on hearts, perfect balance, and ability to address every generation. It speaks to the mind and heart together. It gives certainty, awakens fear, brings hope, corrects belief, reforms conduct, and opens the path to Allah.</p><p dir="ltr">Because the Quran is Allah’s speech and His lasting miracle, faith in it must include all of it. A believer does not divide the Quran into what they accept and what they reject. The servant is not above revelation, choosing some parts because they are easy, familiar, or socially acceptable, while turning away from other parts because they challenge desires, culture, or personal preference.</p><p dir="ltr">True faith necessitates accepting the whole Book.</p><p dir="ltr">This includes its reports and rulings, promises and warnings, commands and prohibitions, clear verses and verses that require deeper knowledge. It includes all that is established as the Quran. If a meaning is clear, the believer submits. If a matter requires explanation, the believer seeks knowledge. If the wisdom is not immediately clear, the believer trusts Allah.</p><p dir="ltr">There is a difference between weakness and rejection. A believer may fall short, sin, struggle, or fail to act perfectly while still admitting the truth. But rejecting what Allah revealed, mocking it, denying it, or refusing its authority is a danger to faith itself.</p><p dir="ltr">The Quran is complete in truth and authority, so our faith in it must not be selective. The believer does not judge the Quran by desires. The believer brings desires before the Quran so they may be judged and corrected.</p><h2 dir="ltr">Reflection Question</h2><p dir="ltr">Are there parts of the Quran that I avoid because they challenge my assumptions, habits, or desires?</p><h2 dir="ltr">Action Point</h2><p dir="ltr">Read one ayah today that calls you to change something in your life.</p><p dir="ltr">Say: <strong>O Allah, I believe in all of Your Book. Help me submit to what You revealed, even when it is difficult for my soul.</strong></p><h2 dir="ltr">Takeaway</h2><p dir="ltr">The Quran is the lasting miracle of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the proof of his message. The Quran Is a Miracle, and All of It Must Be Believed

<p dir="ltr"><em>Theme: The Quran guides every people, every age, and every part of life.</em></p><h2 dir="ltr">Quran Verses</h2><blockquote dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">“Blessed is the One Who sent down the Criterion to His servant, so that he may be a warner to the whole world.” (Quran 25:1)</p></blockquote><blockquote dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">“And We have sent down to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Reminder, so that you may explain to people what has been revealed for them, and perhaps they will reflect.” (Quran 16:44)</p></blockquote><h2 dir="ltr">Lesson &amp; Reflection</h2><p dir="ltr">Faith in the Quran requires believing that its message is universal.</p><p dir="ltr">The Quran was not revealed for one tribe, one nation, one generation, one land, or one language group alone. Its language is Arabic, but its guidance is for all people and jinn until the Day of Judgment. The first audience heard it in Arabia, but its message reaches every time and place.</p><p dir="ltr">This is part of the greatness of the Quran. Earlier messages were sent to particular peoples and times, but the Quran came as the final Book for the final Messenger (peace be upon him). Since no prophet will come after Muhammad (peace be upon him) and no revealed book will come after the Quran, its guidance remains binding and relevant until the end of time.</p><p dir="ltr">The Quran is also complete guidance for human welfare. It was not revealed only for private recitation or personal spirituality. Rather, the Quran gives the foundations, principles, values, objectives, commands, prohibitions, and guidance by which life becomes upright. Some matters are stated directly, while others are explained by the authentic Sunnah. Reliable scholars help us understand and apply the Quran and Sunnah according to principles rooted in revelation.</p><p dir="ltr">For this reason, faith in the Quran requires accepting the Sunnah. Allah did not send the Quran separated from the Messenger (peace be upon him) who received it. He sent the Prophet (peace be upon him) to convey it, explain it, apply it, and live by it. Without the Sunnah, a person cannot properly know the details of prayer, zakah, Hajj, and many rulings and applications of the Quran.</p><p dir="ltr">It is not correct to claim belief in the Quran while rejecting the authentic Sunnah, because the Quran itself commands obedience to the Messenger (peace be upon him) and makes him the explainer of revelation.</p><p dir="ltr">“...Whatever the Messenger gives you, take it. And whatever he forbids you from, leave it. And fear Allah. Surely Allah is severe in punishment.” (Quran 59:7)</p><p dir="ltr">The Quran is universal and complete, and the Sunnah is its explanation and lived application. Together, they guide the servant to Allah.</p><h2 dir="ltr">Reflection Question</h2><p dir="ltr">Do I turn to the Quran and Sunnah as complete guidance for my life or only for certain religious moments?</p><h2 dir="ltr">Action Point</h2><p dir="ltr">Choose one area of life today: worship, family, work, speech, character, or decision-making.</p><p dir="ltr">Ask: <strong>What Quranic principle should guide me here, and how did the Prophet (peace be upon him) teach its application?</strong></p><h2 dir="ltr">Takeaway</h2><p dir="ltr">Faith in the Quran includes believing that it is universal guidance for all people and complete guidance for human welfare and that the Sunnah explains and applies it.</p>

Universal and Complete Guidance, Explained by the Sunnah

<p dir="ltr"><em>Theme: Faith in the Quran produces reverence and love.</em></p><h2 dir="ltr">Quran Verse</h2><blockquote dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">“That is so. And whoever honors the symbols of Allah, it is certainly from the piety of the hearts.” (Quran 22:32)</p></blockquote><h2 dir="ltr">Lesson &amp; Reflection</h2><p dir="ltr">Faith in the Quran requires honoring it.</p><p dir="ltr">If the Quran is the speech of Allah, it cannot be treated like ordinary speech. If it is Allah’s guidance, light, mercy, healing, and proof, then reverence for it must live in the heart and appear in conduct.</p><p dir="ltr">Honoring the Quran begins with honoring the One who spoke it. The believer reveres Allah and therefore reveres His words. A heart that knows the greatness of Allah cannot be careless with His Book.</p><p dir="ltr">This reverence should shape how we recite, hear, hold, study, and speak about the Quran. We approach the Quran with reverence, attentiveness, and respect, observing the manners taught by Islam when reciting and handling the mushaf (the written copy of the Quran). We avoid treating the mushaf carelessly. We do not place the Quran in dishonorable places, interrupt its recitation with mockery or heedlessness, or make its verses the subject of jokes or casual disrespect.</p><p dir="ltr">But honoring the Quran is not only about the physical mushaf. A person may place the mushaf high on a shelf yet place the Quran’s guidance low in the heart. Love of the Quran is a sign of love for Allah, because the Quran is Allah’s speech. Whoever loves Allah loves His words.</p><p dir="ltr">Love of the Quran has signs. A person who loves it returns to it often, feels joy in reciting it, loves hearing it, longs to understand it, feels honored to memorize and teach it, and accepts being corrected by it. Love brings closeness, not distance.</p><p dir="ltr">The Prophet (peace be upon him) said that the best of this Ummah are those who learn the Quran and teach it. [al-Bukhari 5027] This includes recitation, memorization, meaning, guidance, and action. Many doubts spread because people do not know the Quran’s reality, preservation, miracle, authority, or rights. Its meaning is protected through sound tafsir, correct belief, the Sunnah, and the understanding of the people of knowledge. The best defense of the Quran is not only argument; it is also a life shaped by the Quran.
