Tafsir: Luqman 31:12

31:12
ولقد اتينا لقمان الحكمة ان اشكر لله ومن يشكر فانما يشكر لنفسه ومن كفر فان الله غني حميد ١٢
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا لُقْمَـٰنَ ٱلْحِكْمَةَ أَنِ ٱشْكُرْ لِلَّهِ ۚ وَمَن يَشْكُرْ فَإِنَّمَا يَشْكُرُ لِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖ وَمَن كَفَرَ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَنِىٌّ حَمِيدٌۭ ١٢
وَلَقَدۡ
ءَاتَيۡنَا
لُقۡمَٰنَ
ٱلۡحِكۡمَةَ
أَنِ
ٱشۡكُرۡ
لِلَّهِۚ
وَمَن
يَشۡكُرۡ
فَإِنَّمَا
يَشۡكُرُ
لِنَفۡسِهِۦۖ
وَمَن
كَفَرَ
فَإِنَّ
ٱللَّهَ
غَنِيٌّ
حَمِيدٞ
١٢
Na tulimpa Luqman hikima, tukamwambia: Mshukuru Mwenyezi Mungu. Na mwenye kushukuru basi hakika anashukuru kwa manufaa ya nafsi yake. Na aliye kufuru, basi Mwenyezi Mungu ni Mkwasi, Msifiwa. 1

Little has been recorded in history about Luqman, except that he was a wise and God-fearing man. The Quran says that Luqman was a grateful subject of God and who, as a father, advised his son to save himself from polytheism. Polytheism holds that beings other than God are man’s benefactors and that, man should direct his feelings of gratitude towards them. The belief in the oneness of God stems from the intense realisation that God is the sole benefactor of man and as such all his gratitude should be shown only to that One.
