Tafsir: Yunus 10:22

هو الذي يسيركم في البر والبحر حتى اذا كنتم في الفلك وجرين بهم بريح طيبة وفرحوا بها جاءتها ريح عاصف وجاءهم الموج من كل مكان وظنوا انهم احيط بهم دعوا الله مخلصين له الدين لين انجيتنا من هاذه لنكونن من الشاكرين ٢٢

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُسَيِّرُكُمْ فِى ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ ۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا كُنتُمْ فِى ٱلْفُلْكِ وَجَرَيْنَ بِهِم بِرِيحٍۢ طَيِّبَةٍۢ وَفَرِحُوا۟ بِهَا جَآءَتْهَا رِيحٌ عَاصِفٌۭ وَجَآءَهُمُ ٱلْمَوْجُ مِن كُلِّ مَكَانٍۢ وَظَنُّوٓا۟ أَنَّهُمْ أُحِيطَ بِهِمْ ۙ دَعَوُا۟ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ لَئِنْ أَنجَيْتَنَا مِنْ هَـٰذِهِۦ لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَ ٢٢

هُوَ

ٱلَّذِي

يُسَيِّرُكُمۡ

فِي

ٱلۡبَرِّ

وَٱلۡبَحۡرِۖ

حَتَّىٰٓ

إِذَا

كُنتُمۡ

فِي

ٱلۡفُلۡكِ

وَجَرَيۡنَ

بِهِم

بِرِيحٖ

طَيِّبَةٖ

وَفَرِحُواْ

بِهَا

جَآءَتۡهَا

رِيحٌ

عَاصِفٞ

وَجَآءَهُمُ

ٱلۡمَوۡجُ

مِن

كُلِّ

مَكَانٖ

وَظَنُّوٓاْ

أَنَّهُمۡ

أُحِيطَ

بِهِمۡ

دَعَوُاْ

ٱللَّهَ

مُخۡلِصِينَ

لَهُ

ٱلدِّينَ

لَئِنۡ

أَنجَيۡتَنَا

مِنۡ

هَٰذِهِۦ

لَنَكُونَنَّ

مِنَ

ٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ

He is the One Who enables you to travel through land and sea. And it so happens that you are on ships, sailing with a favourable wind, to the passengers’ delight. Suddenly, the ships are overcome by a gale wind and those on board are overwhelmed by waves from every side, and they assume they are doomed. They cry out to Allah ˹alone˺ in sincere devotion, “If You save us from this, we will certainly be grateful.”

You are reading a tafsir for the group of verses 10:21 to 10:22

Commentary

The word: مَک (رح) ر (makr) used in verse 21: قُلِ اللَّـهُ أَسْرَ‌عُ مَكْرً‌ا (Say, "Allah is more swift in making plans" ) means secret plan or move that could be good or bad. Wherever this word has become a part of the local language, care should be taken that it is not rendered as ` deception'. For instance, in Urdu, the original language of this Commentary, it means just this. It is obvious that Allah Ta` ala is free from it. (1)
