Al-Qasas 28:58 وكم اهلكنا من قرية بطرت معيشتها فتلك مساكنهم لم تسكن من بعدهم الا قليلا وكنا نحن الوارثين ٥٨
وَكَمۡ
أَهۡلَكۡنَا
مِن
قَرۡيَةِۭ
بَطِرَتۡ
مَعِيشَتَهَاۖ
فَتِلۡكَ
مَسَٰكِنُهُمۡ
لَمۡ
تُسۡكَن
مِّنۢ
بَعۡدِهِمۡ
إِلَّا
قَلِيلٗاۖ
وَكُنَّا
نَحۡنُ
ٱلۡوَٰرِثِينَ
٥٨
Och hur många städer, vars invånare i [lättsinnigt] övermod skröt med sitt överdådiga liv, har Vi inte låtit gå under. Och dessa boningar som var deras är nu övergivna - även om någon [förbipasserande] ibland [tar dem i anspråk]. - Det är Vi som förblir när allt förgår!

The Destruction of Towns, which are not destroyed until Evidence is established against Them
Referring to the people of Makkah, Allah says:
وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ بَطِرَتْ مَعِيشَتَهَا
(And how many a town have We destroyed, which was thankless for its means of livelihood!) They were arrogant
