Ayat al-Kursi: Meaning, Virtues, and Knowing Allah

Duration

Each short lesson takes less than 10 minutes to complete. 8 lessons total.

Description

This 8-lesson Learning Plan is based on Hidayaat Ayat Al-Kursi wa Tanasuqiha Al-Maudhu'iy by Prof. Dr. Taha Abidin Taha Hamad. It offers an English-translated and adapted summary of the book’s core guidance, helping readers move beyond familiar recitation into deeper reflection on the meanings of the greatest ayah in the Qur’an.

The plan explores Ayat al-Kursi through Allah’s names, His perfect life, sustaining power, ownership, authority, knowledge, Kursi, preservation, exaltedness, and greatness. It also highlights the verse’s virtues, its protection, post-prayer recitation, and its perfect thematic flow as a single declaration of Tawhid.

Through these lessons, learners are guided to recite Ayat al-Kursi with a deeper understanding, stronger faith, greater humility, and renewed reliance upon Allah alone.

Purpose of This Plan

This Learning Plan is designed to help the reader move from familiar recitation to reflective recitation. Ayat al-Kursi is often memorized, repeated, and recited for protection, but its greatest benefit is realized when the heart understands what it is saying about Allah.

Each lesson focuses on one meaning from the ayah, helping the learner recognize Allah’s oneness, majesty, knowledge, power, care, and greatness. The goal is not only to know the virtue of Ayat al-Kursi but also to live with its guidance: worshipping Allah alone, relying on Him completely, humbling oneself before Him, and finding safety in His perfect preservation.

Key Verse

“Allah! There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him, the Ever-Living, All-Sustaining. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who could possibly intercede with Him without His permission? He ˹fully˺ knows what is ahead of them and what is behind them, but no one can grasp any of His knowledge—except what He wills ˹to reveal˺. His Seat encompasses the heavens and the earth, and the preservation of both does not tire Him. For He is the Most High, the Greatest.” (Quran 2:255)
