Commentary

The lowest heaven is adorned with stars. These stars serve as beauty in the sky. They also serve as missiles (rujum) against devils who attempt to steal information from the heavens. Similarly, they serve as signs of navigation. 

According to scholars, Allah created the stars for three purposes: as an adornment for the sky, as missiles against devils, and to be guided by them in the darknesses of the land and the sea.

(Ibn Juzayy, 2/494)

The verse also highlights that devils face a blazing fire as their ultimate punishment.

Guidance 

When we search for signs often, we fail to look at the most apparent proofs Allah has created for us. The moon and stars are clear proofs of our Creator, whose design is flawless. Stars not only help us to navigate on our journeys on land and sea, but also direct us to the truth through contemplation and thus help us to get to the hereafter.
