Five Lenses to Reflect on the Quran
Day 1: Picking our locks, picking up the Book
We start with the certainty that all good is contained in this communication from our Creator and Master, and that all we have to do is tune ourselves to receive that goodness and guidance.
“Is the Quran ‘locked’”?
We will focus on how to reflect upon the Quran. But there will be no talk of “unlocking” the Quran, for a very important reason: Allah did not tell us that He locked the Quran!

Instead, we learn from one ayah that there are hearts that have locks on them.
You can read more about that here: Unlocking your HEART for the QUR'AN
“What kind of locks are on my heart?”
“Do they not then reflect on the Quran?
Or are there locks upon their hearts?” (Quran 47:24)
I reflected on this ayah (Quran 47:24) and it made me think:
“What kind of locks could any of us believers have on our hearts that are holding us back from pondering the Quran?”

If I’m not spending my time with this Book, giving it my attention, and desperately seeking its guidance for my life and religion, then perhaps I am missing the whole point in the Quran even while believing in it.
[Maybe we can take inspiration from some reflections upon this ayah (Quran 38:29) which shows us that the blessings of this Book become available once we reflect, and make the intention to act: https://quranreflect.com/?filters=38:29-29
“What is ‘reflecting’? How can I reflect?”
So I hope that you’re convinced about the “why” of reflecting on the Quran, so we can move on next time to think about “what” and “how”.
I am going to be laying out some key methods which every one of us can use to the best of our abilities. These are called the Five Lenses, and I will be showing you some examples of how to use them. I also want you to take part – and don’t be scared to share! See: “Are you SCARED to SHARE? quranreflect.com/posts/6139
