Commentary

The believer asks to follow the path of those whom Allah has blessed: the prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous. This path has been travelled before by the most virtuous servants of Allah.

At the same time, the Surah warns against two destructive paths. The first is the path of those who incurred Allah’s anger by knowing the truth yet refusing to act upon it. The second is the path of those who went astray through ignorance and misguidance.

By concluding in this way, Surah Al-Fatihah presents the believer with a complete framework for guidance: knowledge of the truth combined with sincere action.

Guidance

Believers should strive to combine “correct knowledge with righteous deeds”. Knowledge without action leads to failure, while action without knowledge leads to misguidance.

Remaining steadfast on the path of the righteous requires continuous learning, self-reflection, and sincere devotion to Allah.

Conclusion: Applying Surah Al-Fatihah in our lives.

Alhamdulillah for completing this 7-day journey through Surah Al-Fatihah: the most recited Surah in our lives.

This Surah is not merely recited; it is renewed multiple times a day in prayer. It is praise, belief, surrender, hope, fear, and supplication combined.

Pro Tip: When reciting the Surah, recite slowly and pause after each verse, and try to recall its meanings. Imagine it as a conversation between you and Allah, as per the hadith, and imagine Allah responding to you after every verse.

May Allah make Al-Fatihah alive in our prayers, present in our hearts, and transformative in our lives. May He guide us to the Straight Path and keep us firm upon it. Ameen.
