Commentary
After establishing the foundations of praise, worship, and reliance upon Allah, the servant makes the most important request: guidance.
Guidance is the greatest blessing a person can receive. While Allah has provided general guidance through revelation and messengers, the believer seeks a special form of guidance: the guidance that grants success in following the truth.
The invocation “Guide us” is expressed in the plural form, reminding us that we are part of a community. A true servant desires guidance not only for himself but also for others.
Guidance
We should constantly ask Allah for guidance while actively seeking it through learning, applying the teachings of the Quran, and through Tadabbur (reflecting on the Quran).
The pursuit of guidance requires sincerity, humility, and a willingness to follow Allah’s commands.
